Arthritis and your dog

You may have noticed your dog is slow to get up or seems to tire out easily, one of the reasons may be his/her joints are starting to cause some discomfort. This discomfort could be because of inflammation in their joints. It's hard to even think our loved dog would be in any sort of pain, but there is good news since curcumin - the active ingredient in turmeric - outperformed ibuprofen in people with arthritis in a 2014 study.  We know that arthritis is the result of inflammation and turmeric can decrease inflammation in the body, but did you know turmeric can also help relieve the pain and stiffness in arthritic joints, sometimes even better than conventional pain medications.

When you're ready to try turmeric for you dog, it is important to understand if it's given by itself, turmeric is hard for your dog to absorb.  Adding healthy oils, like coconut oil will increase the absorption. Along with adding cracked black pepper which releases the peperine (phytochemical) also increases the absorption of curcumin by up to 2000% according to Dr.Michael Greger.  This in itself is widely known as Golden Paste. Both people and dogs can experience the benefits of a Golden Paste Powder.

Turmeric is one of the best natural anti-inflammatories either nature or medicine has to offer.
